Why do hearing aid prices vary so much?

People searching for hearing aid prices in Cyprus tend to ask us the same handful of questions. Rather than quoting a figure that could be outdated within months, since technology and needs vary from person to person, here are honest answers to the questions we hear most.

Does the price include the hearing test?

Your first hearing test and consultation are free at our centre with a hearing aid purchase; no extra charge applies. The price you are quoted for a device covers the hardware itself and the care that comes with it.

Is the most expensive device always the right choice?

No. The right device is the one that matches your degree of hearing loss, your lifestyle, and your budget, not necessarily the most advanced model on the shelf. A mild hearing loss may not need a top tier device, while a more advanced loss might require a more powerful one. That is exactly why a hearing test should always come before comparing prices.

Does the price include warranty and aftercare?

Every device comes with a manufacturer warranty, and the length and coverage vary by model. Servicing after the warranty period ends is assessed separately. Being able to get that aftercare done locally, at the same centre where you bought the device, matters a great deal over the years.

Are rechargeable models more expensive than battery powered ones?

Rechargeable models usually carry a slightly higher upfront price than battery powered ones. Over time, though, not having to buy batteries closes much of that gap.

Does state support lower the price?

Yes, eligible patients in the TRNC can benefit from state support toward a hearing aid. Because the amount and conditions depend on individual circumstances, the most accurate answer is the one we can give you personally; see our state support page or get in touch with our team.

Is one hearing aid enough, or do I need a pair?

If both ears have hearing loss, fitting both is usually recommended, since the brain relies on input from both ears to judge direction and distance. A pair naturally costs more than a single device, but the difference in everyday comfort is usually noticeable.

What should I do before asking for a price?

The first step is always the same: a hearing test; if you are proceeding with a device fitting, this is free at our centre. Once we have your results, we can explain exactly which devices suit you and why, so the price you are given is something you understand rather than just a number.
